Fr Ernest Simmons - Booklet Series (1 of 9)

Son of Man, Son of God

Jesus used the phrase "Son of Man" no fewer than 82 times in the Gospels.
The phrase is usually seen as referring to his role of Messiah.
But Father Ernest Simmons also sees "Son of Man" in a broader text - a context that, he says, can help New Zealand Catholics to relate the birth, life, death and resurrection of Jesus to the history of the Maoris and Polynesians before the Gospel reached the Pacific.
